First Checkup

We just got back from Rebekah's first check up. He checked her breathing and heart and said everything sounded okay. He looked at her ears and said they were okay too. Her throat was a little red which goes along with the cough she has had since we received her. It does sound like it is getting better. The only thing the doctor found to be deficient was the soft spot on the top of her head just above her forehead. He said it has not totally closed. He said that normally by 18 months this should be closed and was probably due to a lack of calcium. Otherwise he said she appears to be very healthy and that she has no other signs of calcium deficiency. He is going to prescribe some vitamin A and D for this. We should get the medicine this afternoon. Here is a photo of us with the doctor and a picture of her sleeping. She took a 2 hour nap today. It was wonderful. Maggie, do you see her little bear with her. She loves it. Earlier today she was playing with and hugging her little bear.

Talk with you all soon. Love Jeff

What a time you are having. You look so happy and yet I bet you are anxious to get home and back to a normal (?) routine. This morning at 8am my stitches came out..for joy...I now have an actual shoe on. Went to Reedley to pick up the kids...went to McDonalds, Borders, SaveMart..we have loaded the Rv with a few things and are now getting ready to make cupcakes, snickerdoodles and a fun project involving water bottles. We bought the Bee Movie and Enchanted for the trip..Maggie and I can't wait to see Enchanted again...and again...and again. Sean asked me when he heard "It's A Small World"....."why do you think Mom made Grandpa go so many times to see It's a Small World." Funny what they pick up isn't it. Sean can't wait to hug his mom and Maggie is looking forward to smiling at Rebekah. What wonderful children they are even though they are my grandchildren. You have done a wonderful job with them. Well...time to make something. Loads of Love, Mom

Thanks for sending the videos. Makes us feel almost like we are there with you. She couldn't be more adorable. What a gift to be able to watch her take those steps and to hear her laugh. She seems like a really happy baby. Maggie was happy to see the bear. Sean said she looks really good in your arms. I hope you do get to to the orphanage. I'm sure Rebekah will be interested in all you can tell her later. Are you anxious to get home and get on with your normal life? You got the prize, now bring her home. The kids went with your mom this morning. They were excited because it means that it is now the second half of the time til you get home. Sean says "see you in a week and one day" then we all go to S.F.
Thanks for taking the time to post. It really is nice for us all at home. Love Mom

Hi again, Cupcakes are made for Easter, our water bottle project is made and we did manage to get in hair cuts (more like trims) for the boys. You won't be able to tell though. Tonight we are going to our church where we teach one of our classes. The kids will play downstairs with the other kids. Looks like cereal for dinner....oops...probably shouldn't have told you that. :-) Looking forward to the next post from you. Have a wonderful day. Thinking of you so much. Love, Mom

We have really enjoyed reading your blog and seeing the videos. Rebekah is so happy and has the cutest giggle. It sounds like everything has gone so smoothly and we can feel your joy through your words. We can't wait to meet her!

Tricia,
Just a little help advice for those tired arms. When you are holding Rebekah, have Jeff lovingly put his arm around you (which he probably is doing). Rebekah will see that you trust Jeff and will later be able to ease some of that fear. Remeber I told you how Theo finally bit Al's mustache before he decided he was so scarry. Most of the children are not use to men. Right now you are another care taker, a special one, but still, it takes time. It's good that she is cautious!

I meant to say that Theo decided Al was not so scarry "after" he bit his mustache. We still wonder if thought Al was an ugly woman? Since he never seen men

Put her in the baby sling, even if she struggles at first, it will help her feel more secure in the long Especially when you hit the airport. Those sights and sounds can be frightning and shocking to the senses.

Love seeing the pictures. She is so pretty! I am so happy for you guys. My heart leaps to see another one come home. Your family is bigger, and Christs famuily is bigger. Thank you for listening to the call. Okay I am crying now, slap me.
